The person assigned will be making phone calls advertising our services to daycare centers and after school programs throughout North Jersey. They will be able to work from their dorm or home, hours are from 10:00 am to 11:30 am, with the time flexibility to follow up during day when needed. Tuesdays Thru Fridays. The Goal is to secure at least six free demonstrations per week. Training plus a cellphone will be provided. Also, please note that the first two weeks (after training is finished) are probation time, the person must additionally be able to participate in a weekly meeting with the Stringing with Angela Team to measure progress and plan for the following week.
Salary:
The hourly salary will be $10 an hour plus commission, in this case commission will be an extra $10 for every free demo they are able to secure and schedule. Payments with Stringing with Angela are schedule every two weeks. However, the person will not be part of Pay-roll until probation time is over. Furthermore, training will also be paid. Methods of payments are: via check mailed to you or through Venmo (cellphone app that requires a bank account) as a direct deposit payment.

Midtown Direct Rep (MDR), the resident theatre company at the South Orange Performing Arts Center (SOPAC), is seeking a part-time Managing Director to begin work immediately. With perhaps more professional theater artists than any suburb of NYC, Maplewood/South Orange (NJ) is, according to the New York Times, “where Broadway comes home to sleep.” MDR, a theatre company created by and for these NJ-based artists, develops and presents relevant, world-class theatre for its community. MDR company members include two-time Tony Award-winner Norbert Leo Butz, Tony Award-nominees Stephanie J. Block, Megan Lawrence, and Christiane Noll, plus Sebastian Arcelus, Joel de La Fuente, Bradley Dean, Michele Pawk, and many others.
Reporting directly to the Board of Directors, the Managing Director is responsible for maintaining and building the MDR brand and audience, financial management, production and operations-related supervision, and marketing. The Managing Director will work closely with MDR’s artistic staff, and with the Executive Director and staff of SOPAC.
The ideal candidate will want to play an integral role helping to guide day-to-day operations and organizational development of this young not-for-profit in a time of transitional growth, and have the following skills to represent the institution both internally and externally: experience in managing staff and interacting with artistic personnel; exceptional written/verbal communication skills; budgeting experience; organization operational experience and skills; and be extremely organized and detail oriented. Experience working in theatrical non-profit management, and familiarity with Quickbooks, Microsoft Word and Excel, is necessary. Living in the South Orange/Maplewood area, or familiarity with the community, is preferred.
Fiscal responsibilities include oversight of financial procedures and systems including accounts payable and cash flow; generating checks and maintaining the general ledger in Quickbooks; budget management; financial reporting for staff and Board, grants, and funders; audit and taxes management; and reconciliations with the SOPAC box office.
Production- and operations-related responsibilities include on-site supervision for readings; preparing, coordinating, and maintaining season calendars; compliance with SOPAC’s operations; and filing appropriate contracts with AEA when necessary.
Marketing responsibilities include establishing performance schedule, ticket prices, and discounts with SOPAC; generating e-blasts and maintaining the MDR mailing list; managing social media (Facebook/Twitter); working with the press rep to generate releases; creating programs for productions; and working with the New Jersey Theatre Alliance and other like organizations on promotions.
